Important Signs that You May Need to Undergo Testosterone Therapy

Testosterone deficiency is an all-too-common condition among aging males. However, there are certain underlying conditions such as hypogonadism, mumps, testicular injury, pituitary tumors, and more that can contribute to lower testosterone levels.

While testosterone deficiency brought on by aging should more or less be left alone to run its course, those instances resulting from specific health conditions may need to be addressed with testosterone therapy. Watch out for some telltale signs indicating the need to consult with a testosterone therapy center to confirm if you are have abnormally low testosterone levels.

Physical Symptoms

The first few things you will notice if you are testosterone-deficient include loss of muscle mass and increase in body fat and weight. You may also have mild anemia or a decrease in your hemoglobin, as well as significant changes in your cholesterol levels. A sudden fragility in bones, indicative of osteoporosis, may also come to light.

One of the more striking symptoms of low testosterone levels is decrease in body hair. This must not be confused, however, with hair loss on the head, as that may be due to several other factors not necessarily related to low testosterone levels.

Severe Changes in Mood

Another symptom you need to look out for is the sudden changes in mood. Similar to the mood swings of women when undergoing menopause, low testosterone levels can also result in males experiencing rapid changes in their mood. A sudden drop or change in testosterone levels can disrupt the chemical composition of the body, affecting mood and result in a host of other behavioral issues.

All of these physical symptoms are pretty common so much so, that they can be easily overlooked or confused for something else. The only way to be completely certain about your condition is by going to your doctor to have your testosterone levels properly checked.

Treatment

To bring back the amount of testosterone to sufficient levels, various methods of testosterone therapy can be applied. There are intramuscular injections that are usually given every two to three weeks, and there are also patches for who those want to avoid being stuck with needles. Gels, pellets, and even teeth applications are also available.

It’s not advisable to take testosterone treatment options by yourself, though. Have medical professionals, such as those in Optimal Health Miami, provide you with the most appropriate treatment for your low testosterone issues.
